Grow baby grow!

Building on our earlier succesess

This post continues my story from post #5 So what did we decide to do after paying off our first bouncer? We decided to let the money ride and invest more in the business! Our late success and the fact that we were turning away clients were clear indicators that continuing to grow is the correct move. So I contacted our supplier and placed an order for 3 more bouncers. Negotiations were a bit rougher this time around: word of advice, if you have a verbal agreement with one seller about how much discount you will get on the next order it doesn’t apply when you talk to another seller in the same company. The new seller I was talking to (the first one was on vacation and unavailable) refused to give us a discount better than the 19% I had negotiated the first time around. Like I mentioned in a prior post, one of Roger Dawson’s most important rules in negotiating is never be afraid to walk away from a deal. I told the seller her offer was no good and stopped communicating with her, even though she started trying to give me a better offer than what she initially said was her “final” offer. At the same time, the seller who I initially dealt with started messaging me and telling me she was back, so I was able to secure a 25% discount with her. Just to be clear, the 19% was still a respectable discount and better than anything else other companies offered us, but I was promised that our next order would have a better than a 19% discount and I refused to let someone else take away what I had worked hard negotiating for. So the order was placed and the new bouncers eventually arrived in August. It was busy season for the company so they took alot longer to fulfill our order but it eventually came. We made a big push marking our new products and they were rented out non-stop pretty much till it got too cold out; maybe until October. We had a handful of orders in winter, but Winnipeggers are pretty tight with their money and don’t want to spend extra on renting a hall and a bouncer (as opposed to just having a bouncer in their backyards in summer). It was nice to get a break from the 7 day straight days though and we welcomed it.

We had a chance to get all our bouncers displayed at one time last year! Here's a picture we took (and currently is our profile pic on facebook) Bounchingbello Bouncers Full Line Up

So here we are today! It’s 2018 now and we’ve had a few orders already in January-April whereas last year we didn’t get our first order till around May. It’s looking like we’ll have another great summer! Probably busier as my wife is going to back to work and she works weekends sometimes, but we’ll figure it out. We also have a really cool surprise that we bought last year that I didn’t want to mention till it’s been revealed. As soon as it’s ready I’ll make a post about that. Stay tuned!

I’ll have to think of something else to write about next week as my bouncer story is all caught up for now. It’s tax season, so I’ll probably write about something money related. Thanks for reading! Have a great week!
